Inferno: The Beginning 2

I woke up late in the afternoon and found the strength to stand, shaky as I may be, I was able to walk again. I started following the stream of water, hoping I would find some food along the way. Luck hadn't been on my side since I was orphaned, but things began to improve as I found a tree with apples in it. A glimmer of hope crossed my eyes as I reached for the lowest branch and grabbed the best apple I could find, plucking it out of the tree and instantly sinking my teeth into it. I quickly grabbed three more apples and sat down to eat. But as I scarfed down the fruit, tears filled my eyes and streamed down my face. Mother always found me the best apples in the villa…she knew how much I loved apples and always got the best for me…

"Only the best for my darling." She would always say with her warm loving smile.

I never knew anything but her love and happiness before... I swallowed the fruit in my mouth and burst into tears, finally mourning the death of my parents. I was all alone and scared, wondering if I would ever see my brothers and sister again. But when all I wanted to do was cry, my stomach roared at me, forcing me to continue eating the fruit, between long sobs. This was the only day in my life that I had cried that much at one time.

"Why are you crying?"

I looked around and saw a little girl next to me. She had light blue skin and hair, bright yellow eyes with these things sticking out of her head. I couldn't answer and continued crying. It wasn't after two hours that I finally ran out of tears. The girl was still sitting next to me and still waiting. "Who are you…?" I asked.
"I'm Skira. What about you?"
I swallowed hard and sniffled, "Chase…"
"Why are you crying?"
"My…mom and dad are…dead…" I moaned softly, feeling the need to cry return, but didn't have the tears to do it. "My big brother is gone…my little sister is gone…my baby brother too…"
"Oh…I'm an outcast…I don't get to see my mommy and daddy again…" Skira sighed.
"Why not…?" I asked, wiping the tears from my eyes.
"Someone did something bad with me… something I'm not supposed to do until I'm all grown up and gonna be a mommy…" she whispered.
"So….you're all alone?"
She nodded sadly, wiping a tear from her eye with a large blue finger.
"I am too…It's scary alone…" I replied.
"Can I stay with you?"
I nodded, needing a friend to help me through this hard time. Skira rested her head on my shoulder and fell asleep, soon followed by me, drifting into a nap as I was drained from all that crying.
